These tags show which products and services a company can offer on their Profile page. They are available as a Network filter to help users find companies to match their needs.
DeepStream uses UNSPSC codes for a comprehensive selection of product and service tags to suit a wide variety of companies.
This article answers some common questions around our tags. Please consult the UNSPSC website for more detailed FAQs around the standard itself.
How are tags structured?
Tags have a 4-level structure, with "parent" tags each containing a number of "child" tags.
Each tag has a description and an 8-digit code. The code is formatted so that each 2 digits represent a level of the structure.
Level / Type | Code | Description |
1. Segment | 30000000 | Structures and Building and Construction and Manufacturing Components and Supplies |
2. Family | 30110000 | Concrete and cement and plaster |
3. Class | 30111600 | Cement and lime |
4. Commodity | 30111601 | Cement |
How can I browse tags?Hover over any parent tag and click the "Open" button to show its children below. You can continue to "Open" parent tags until you're viewing the lowest-level tag type ("Commodity"). Parent tags you're viewing are shown at the top of the panel (in grey) and you can click the "<" button at top-left of a parent tag to go back to a higher level. |

You can also search using a specific 8-digit UNSPSC code if you know it. |

How can I select tags? You can only select tags when editing them in the Profile or filtering the Network, in all other contexts you can browse tags only. Hover over a tag and click the "+" button to select it - the button will change to a "✓". You can click this button again to deselect a tag. Blue numbered badges at the right-hand side of each row show how many tags have been selected beneath different parents and allow you to browse to these. |

Which type of tag should I select?Tags should be selected at the lowest level possible ("Commodity") so try to ensure that you click "Open" to expand tags as much as you can. Selecting lower-level tags will help ensure your products are accurately represented and appear in the correct results when other companies search the Network. Where no "Commodity" tags are a suitable fit, select a higher-level tag instead. |
|
What if I can't find the right tag?The UNSPSC standard contains over 150,000 codes, which should provide a good fit for a majority of products and services. Where a good match can't be found it is advised to select the most appropriate higher-level tag(s) instead and use the company Description to clarify any differences. |
|
How can my company be found by others? The "Products and services" filter on the Network page allows users to find companies matching selected tags. Where a parent tag is selected for a filter, companies will appear in results if they have selected the parent tag itself and/or any of the child tags underneath (at any level). Where a level 4 ("Commodity") tag is selected for a filter, only companies which have selected that specific tag will be returned. |
